Razavi wins APPT Melbourne

Sam Razavi has continued to build on his fantastic reputation on the international poker tour, with the Englishman triumphing in the recent PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour Melbourne event.

It would be fair to describe Razavi as a hugely promising talenet, with the player cashing just under $500,000 prior to that recent victory. Nevertheless, with his 3rd place finish at the Asian Pacific Tour several days ago netting him just $1,764, there is no doubt that this latest victory is certainly hugely significant.

This APPT Melbourne event had a $5,000 buy in and with 257 others competing for the top prize, it would be fair to say that it was a very competitive tournament. However, Razavi managed to win the event after overcoming Keith Walker in a heads-up scenario. Some would class Razavi as rather fortuitous, with the player triumphing with a flush after seeing his K-10 suited pitted against Walker's J-J.

Prior to this win, you had to look back to last year to see Razavi's other substantial win after he topped the UK & Ireland Poker Tour Cork main event in May 2011. Since then he has mainly relied on a sequence of smaller wins, so this triumph will certainly do his career the world of good. Moreover, with Razavi now recording top three finishes in all of his last three tournaments, he will certainly take plenty of confidence as he heads to future events.
