Cory Wood wins WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi Casino Championship

After losing out on the final table to Kyle Cartwright in the Main Event at the WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi, it would be fair to say that Cory Wood had plenty of motivation as he prepared to take part in the Casino Championship at the same venue.

It appears as though Wood firmly learned from his mistakes as well, managing to win despite having to accumulate points over a series of tournaments. There's no doubt that the main emphasis at the WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi is on the Main Event. However, the Casino Championship certainly appeals to many as it involves the aggregate scores over a series of twelve tournaments. This seemed to work massively in the favor of Wood, who managed to perform well in three out of the twelve games.

He managed a third place finish in Event #1, while he also achieved an even better runners-up finish in Event #6.

However, all of the drama certainly arrived in Event #11 - which happened to be the penultimate tournament of the Casino Championship. At this stage, Wood was actually in 2nd place in the overall rankings, after several solid performances from Ashley Butler meant that he was top of the leaderboard.

However, Wood secured his win on the final table of Event #11 and while he did not win this tournament, his 4th place finish was sufficient to take him to the top of the overall standings and this meant that no other player could overtake him.

After the conclusion of the Casino Championship, Wood could not hide his delight and claimed that victory in this event meant more to him than triumphing in a single tournament.
